The botanical garden of Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech illustrates the diversity of flowering plants, or angiosperms, over 13 ares of the university campus. It is above all an educational tool intended for students, but it is open to the general public. In this “garden of the evolution of flowering plants,” some 400 species belonging to around seventy botanical families are arranged according to the course of biological evolution. A pond displays water lilies, sweet flag, arrowhead, among other aquatic and amphibious plants, illustrating another chapter in the history of flowering plants. It is possible to combine the visit with a visit to the arboretum, which occupies the faculty’s historic grounds, just a short walk from the botanical garden.
